Explainer · Import your statements

Why does a transaction show up twice?

· 1 min

A transaction you added yourself can arrive again with your statement. Magic Import flags it and asks before adding it.

What you see

A transaction that may already be in Spentio shows its match and what differs, such as Another date. If nothing differs, it shows Possibly already yours.

A review card for COOP PRONTO, CHF 31.45, marked Another amount and another name. It names the transaction you already have, Coop Pronto Shop for CHF 29.45, and offers It's the same or It's another.

Why it happens

  • You added it by hand, or your iPhone logged it when you paid.
  • A recurring payment already planned it.
  • Your bank lists it on another day or under another name.

What to do

  • Choose It's the same to keep only the one you have, or It's another if they're different.
  • Only the name differs? Choose Same, keep my name to keep your name; the bank's wording goes into the notes. Answer one, and Spentio offers the same answer for the others like it.
  • For a recurring payment, choose Update (for example Update amount) to turn the planned entry into the real one.
  • Added both by mistake? Delete the extra one in Transactions.

Questions

I imported the same statement twice. Is everything duplicated?
No. Transactions already in Spentio are skipped, so a second import adds only what's new.
Why wasn't my duplicate flagged?
If the date, amount and name all differ, they look like two different transactions. Delete the extra one in Transactions.
